Keepsake box Bird's Eye Maple with Cherry inlay. The top has bird's eye maple with cherry inlay. I make these smaller boxes using materials left from larger projects. The center part of the top is bird's eye maple with a large bull's eye in the center, The original furniture I was making with this bird's eye had to be very consistent so this was not appropriate . The sides are quarter sawn maple with very straight consistent grain. The cherry inlay on the top is a nice contrast to the maple and creates definition around the edge of the top. The box form is made of materials from a production shop. By doing this I am fully using materials that might otherwise wind up in a landfill. All are high quality, first class materials. Other shops most likely throw them away when they finish large projects. I make these boxes entirely by hand in my shop in Chattanooga, TN, near the foot of Lookout Mountain. A serene and peaceful place to create. Size is 5" x 7" x 4".
